Mr. Wizard will reveal all to you (well, if he knows what you're talking about)

Q: Can I use my mp3's as a ringtone on an LG enVtouch?

A: Why, yes.  Yes you can.  You need to know a bit about Windows and be comfortable handling flash drives, etc.. but its not that difficult.

Here's what you need:

  1. An LG enVtouch cell phone with removable memory (micro SD)
  2. A program to edit mp3's as a sound wave (Sound Forge, etc.)

Here we go.......

  1. Remove microSD card from phone [PiC]
  2. Put into an adapter or otherwise use your PC to read it  [PiC]
  3. Load your chosen mp3 into your sound editor program
  4. Crop out 10-20 seconds to be used as the ringtone
  5. Reduce the volume to 25% of the original volume [PiC]
  6. Resample the wave to 22100 Hz
  7. Save as a WAV file
  8. File has to be smaller than 3 megs
  9. Copy this WAV file to the my_sounds folder on your microSD card. [PiC]
  10. Put the microSD back into your phone
  11. Flip phone open and go to MENU, then MEDIA CENTER (2nd line) [PiC]
  12. Go into MUSIC & TONES
  13. Go into MY SOUNDS  [PiC]
  14. Find the WAV file you just added and highlight it
  15. Click SET AS, then CONTACT ID, then pick the friend(s) that you want to play this WAV when they call  [PiC]
  16. Click OK
  17. Now, when they call, you'll hear the WAV instead of the default ringtone
  18. Lather.  Rinse.  Repeat.
  19. END
